Resonance Events presents…..

Friday 3rd October sees the 2nd instalment of resonance events at the Town Hall, Birmingham. With The Heritage Orchestra playing the mad music of Amon Tobin, an album launch for Nu soul and jazz singer Lizzy Parks and the cream of Birmingham’s hip-hop talent. There will be Jazz, Brassy beats, rare groove, swirling orchestral movements, lyrical skulduggery and dance offs all housed in the Birmingham Town Hall for one night only.

Wax Poetics, Rope-A-Dope and all the artists performing – including Tru Thoughts will be giving away goodies throughout the night.

The cost of this event is £15 per ticket for 7 hours of music excellence.

BT DIGITAL MUSIC AWARDS 2008 NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

Fused is very happy to announce that we will be sponsoring the Best Urban Act at this years BT Digital Music awards and you can help shape them by voting for your favourite artists and music sites at www.bt.com/dma.

And if that isn’t enough we’ve got 5 x pairs of tickets to give away for you to attend the awards which will be held at Camden’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 1st October. And you’ll be able to catch all the action when the awards are broadcast on ITV2 on 7th October.

This past year has seen newspaper headlines dominated by British music artists making good use of digital with Radiohead launching their album ‘In Rainbows’ as a ‘pay what you like’ download experiment and Coldplay releasing ‘Violet Hill’ as a free, download-only single.

Mercury Prize – the bets are in

The Mercury Music Prize comes around way too quick each year and news in from Ladbrokes today is that RADIOHEAD are 4/1 favourites to win.

The Last Shadow Puppets, who feature Arctic Monkeys‘ frontman Alex Turner, are 5/1 for the gong.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said:

“It’s always tough to try and second guess the judges. But at this early stage Radiohead look to be the ones to beat.”

Word just in that The Public’s Summer festivities kick off this weekend with free live music and a theatre show.

PINKTANK 8PM SATURDAY 19th JULY – Duets for Django
Paul Vernon Chester, one of the foremost Gypsy Jazz Guitarists, plays firmly in the Django tradition. Having shared the stage with some of the world’s best Gypsy Jazz musicians, Chester has become increasingly sought after on the jazz guitar scene of the UK and Europe.

PINKTANK 1PM SUNDAY 20TH JULY – Tipitina
Following the release of their debut CD, Tipitina’s reputation is steadily growing with appearances across Europe, including the Bordeaux Jazz Festival and Copenhagen and UK gigs such as the Brecon Jazz Festival and BBC Summer Festival at the NEC.

SATURDAY 19TH & SUNDAY 20TH JULY, PUBLIC SQUARE 10am-4pm – The Black Maze
This is an event for anyone not afraid of the dark, and everyone who loves a good ghost train.
Suitable for children five years plus, and accompanied by an adult, this is a thrilling five minute journey into the darkness of your own imagination.  The Black Maze doesn’t look very big from the outside but once you dare to enter, its dark twisting passages are filled with unexpected sensations, sights and sounds. Like a computer game come to life, you are at the heart of the action. Your task is simple; find a corridor full of stars.

Built in the back of a lorry by Birmingham-based theatre company Stan’s Café, The Black Maze has been a hit with adults and children of all ages wherever it has gone – from Budapest to a Devon beer garden.  Come and explore it for yourself.

Free chance to see Soweto Kinch

Jazz musician and hip-hop MC Soweto Kinch is opening up the doors of Birmingham’s Town Hall on the 25th July free of charge for under 21′s who live in and around Birmingham’s B19 area.

Following the 2006 release ‘A Life In The Day of B19: Tales From A Tower Block’ the show will feature young b-boys, dancers, singers and rappers from the recent Hockley Flyover Show as well as material from Kinch’s new album Basement Fables.

Young people aged under 21 from the northwest Birmingham postcode areas of B8, B18, B19, B20 and B21 can collect 2 free tickets per person by quoting ‘Soweto Ticket Offer’ at the Town Hall Box Office. N*E*R*D Dates announced

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday 11th July) for N*E*R*D’s UK Tour.

Their latest album ‘Seeing Sounds’ is out now and is the follow up to 2004’s Album ‘Fly or Die” which featured hits ‘Maybe’ and ‘She wants to Move’. Their new single ‘Everyone Nose’ is out now. They come to the UK in August, below are the tour dates:
