Word just in that The Public’s Summer festivities kick off this weekend with free live music and a theatre show.
PINKTANK 8PM SATURDAY 19th JULY – Duets for Django
Paul Vernon Chester, one of the foremost Gypsy Jazz Guitarists, plays firmly in the Django tradition. Having shared the stage with some of the world’s best Gypsy Jazz musicians, Chester has become increasingly sought after on the jazz guitar scene of the UK and Europe.
PINKTANK 1PM SUNDAY 20TH JULY – Tipitina
Following the release of their debut CD, Tipitina’s reputation is steadily growing with appearances across Europe, including the Bordeaux Jazz Festival and Copenhagen and UK gigs such as the Brecon Jazz Festival and BBC Summer Festival at the NEC.
SATURDAY 19TH & SUNDAY 20TH JULY, PUBLIC SQUARE 10am-4pm – The Black Maze
This is an event for anyone not afraid of the dark, and everyone who loves a good ghost train.
Suitable for children five years plus, and accompanied by an adult, this is a thrilling five minute journey into the darkness of your own imagination. The Black Maze doesn’t look very big from the outside but once you dare to enter, its dark twisting passages are filled with unexpected sensations, sights and sounds. Like a computer game come to life, you are at the heart of the action. Your task is simple; find a corridor full of stars.
Built in the back of a lorry by Birmingham-based theatre company Stan’s Café, The Black Maze has been a hit with adults and children of all ages wherever it has gone – from Budapest to a Devon beer garden. Come and explore it for yourself.
All the events over the weekend at The Public are free and open to all.
